mr dibble

went to Paul Dibble's studio today, with school. it was quite last minute actually, but seemed layed back & quite intense at the same time.

things are looking up.

today involved some time spent lying on the footpath of an alleyway, next to a gutter, while my friend filmed it. (we're making a movie and i had to pretend to be dead.)

and the lights on the streets go dark

too many deadlines looming ahead. its like being a rabbit caught in the headlights of an oncoming car...
this song, by avalanche city.
(this was taken by katie, a very talented friend of mine.)

little miss librarian.

feelin' knackered alright. had life drawing class from 4-6 after school, and then i had to work on my art history essay. still do, in fact. better get back to that... but for now, heres my new glasses, i love em!

(listening to some of Avalanche City and Doves today, and loving it)

saturday morning hannah and i biked down to visit a not-so-nearby neighbour, to ask if we could use the house that they rent out (which is empty at the moment) for a photo shoot, but they weren't in, so we parked our bikes and jumped over some gates and i shot two rolls of film by this little stream instead. at one point i was walking through the water with my tights on, and the whole time we were both dodging the sporadically placed sheep poo. it was definitely fun though!
i'm working on a project in photography class, so i've been kinda busy developing rolls of film and working in the darkroom at school, but i like it. hopefully i'll be able to scan some pictures in and upload them here soon.
i've also been looking around this website. i'm looking for some film for my new polaroid 100 (-:

throw all consequence aside

i love old buildings like these. outdated, ugly in their starkness, concrete and grey; grime oozing from their pores. beautiful and cold, quite masculine.
pinhole photography. aah, the antiquated simplicity of it... we had to make our own pinhole cameras in photography this week. i brought an old tea tin with ducks on it, it works well enough...
i little note on skirts. they are wonderful, the most feminine item i can think of, apart from dresses (which can get tiresome). so much more lovely to wear than trousers or jeans, so much more nostalgic and true, worn upon the waist. i've bought three this week infact, it's summer afterall; two floral, one black.

raindrops on windows

what a cold dreary day... five minutes of standing in the rain (my umbrella also decide to be uncooperative, which didn't make matters any better) for our rather late bus driver, who then arrived and parked with the doors right in front of a huge puddle. but anyway its friday, and two friends and me have planned to go and raid the opshops & hopefully find some nice places to take photos, hopefully i can find some nice cardigans and maybe a brooch or two...

first day

the first whole day back at school and i'm exhausted! i just want to sit and rest my sore feet, regulation school shoes aren't very comfortable, stupidly enough.
i got my first photography assignment today though: we have to take photos of architecture. i'm thinking old barns & rusty warehouses on the edge of town, and those strange buildings tucked away in little places that no one seems to notice.
today felt like a true summer day, sitting on the grass outside the english block with friends, dresses pulled up over knees because its so hot, swaying leaves leaving dappled shadows on the pavement between the classrooms.

hello there

yesterday i got my first ever dslr. i'm really happy with it so far, its way better than the rather buggered point and shoot i was using before (obviously).
it's back to school again tomorrow, i should really be making something motivational or vaguely inspiring to stick to my locker door right now. talking of lockers its a lot smaller than last year and right down on the floor, but i don't mind really.
writing on my laptop seems quite weird lately, after winning a beautiful grey typewriter (ribbon and all!) for only $1 (!!) at an auction in the weekend, i've been using that a lot lately and now i expect the apostrophe to be in a different place...
I've been listening to this band a lot lately, i really like them.
